Seriously, how many opportunities have you let pass just simply because you didn’t feel “ready” or “good enough”? I know it’s incredibly frustrating to doubt yourself, no matter how hard you try not to. If overwhelming self-doubts is what’s holding you back from reaching your true potential and your dreams, it’s time to learn how to get rid of them. Here are a few ways that you can try:
“Doubt kills more dreams than failure”
1. Surround yourself with confident & optimistic people
You know what is the original purpose of the prison? It’s for isolating the criminals from their negative community. It’s believed that communities – family, neighbors, colleagues, etc., play a big role in anyone’s life, either positively or negatively.
Thus, always be wise and careful to choose whom you want to be with. You can change your life only if you change your environment. Surround yourself with people who live by values, personalities and principles that you also want to live by. For example, if you want to become more confident, surround yourself with confident people. If you want to become a writer, you need to join a writing community.
2. Failure equals chance
Fear of Failure is one of the main reasons why we doubt ourselves. People also see failures as disappointment, embarrassment, losers, and inferiority. But the truth is failure is merely the proof that you’re trying.
Failure is not an end. It’s just a part of the process to success. As Edison once said, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” Think of it in a different way, you may need to find 1,000 wrong ways before finding the right one.
3. Step out of the Comfort Zone
One of the rules of life in this world is everything is changing every second. And you can’t expect to change if you keep doing the same things at the same places over and over again.
You don’t have to leap out of your Comfort Zone. Step Outside of it. Don’t expect it to happen over one night. Try easing yourself out of your Comfort Zone by doing little things that you usually avoid or be afraid of. You may think how small acts can affect your life but yes. Trust me. They will steadily build up your self-confidence, teach you new skills, help you get prepared and soon you’ll realize yourself already out of the comfort zone to a new horizon.
4. Beat the negativity
No matter how positive someone is, surely there are times they experience self-doubts – negative thoughts about themselves during their self-talks. It happens to anyone. Successful people differ from unsuccessful ones as they are always aware when the self-doubts pop up. They understand that the self-doubts are caused by fear and not real. They know how to not allow themselves to listen to those negative thoughts. They focus on positivities and their goals and make efforts to achieve them.
So, next time when you talk to yourself, remember to stay positive. Believe in yourself. Don’t give up. Trust the process. Make Non-stop efforts. If you can’t use a rocket, take a plane. If you don’t have a plane, take a car. If you don’t have a car, use your bike. If you don’t have anything, just run. If you can’t run, then walk. Every step you make will bring you closer to your dreams.
5. Finding a mentor or a coach
Some people can, some people can’t. You don’t have to do it all alone. When you feel like you can’t do this alone and no one in your community can really help you, then you can find a mentor or a coach for yourself who can see the abilities and potentials inside you and help you bring them out and shine.
I hope you enjoy my post and can find ways that work for yourself. If you are going to apply any of these into your life, I would love to hear about your plan. Feel free to leave me a comment.
